TIMCON Approval - Approval to ISPM 15 ...
We are an approved European Business Network who can carry out initial and ongoing six monthly assessments to the ISPM 15 scheme.
- ISPM 15 (International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures) is governed in the UK by the Forestry Commission under the UK Wood Packaging Materials Marking Programme (WPMMP - Plant Health Leaflet No.12)
- Recent incidences involving new pest outbreaks have prompted the international community to promote the development of an international standard to address this problem.
- This programme is intended for manufacturers, recyclers and repairers of wood packaging materials i.e cases, crates, pallets and cable drums, who are involved in exporting goods.
- Exported wood packaging materials must be identified with the approved registration mark.
- The wood packaging materials themselves must be either heat treated or fumigated.
- Not to be registered to the scheme may cause the export packaging to be destroyed, fumigated, heat treated or re-exported at its destination port at the exporters expense.
- China insists on these requirements and also on a phytosanitary certificate accompanying the goods.
- Other countries adopting the scheme include Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, USA and Mexico. Many other countries including the EU are due to join early in 2005.
